Currently based in Brooklyn, New York Dominique Fung continuously examines specific and relevant ideas around cultural fabrication, diaspora, sexuality, femininity, exoticism, eroticism and otherness. She paints culturally significant objects to reclaim the objects and space once inhabited by false narratives as her own. Fung’s paintings often evoke a world of genteel pleasure, using exquisite and decadent colours, upon the first gaze but the uncanny surrealist ideas convey a subtler and subversive critique about contemporary life.
