Camille Jodoin-eng
Camille Jodoin-Eng’s work engages the spatial and sensory properties of light to visually unfold abstract concepts of expanding space. Constructing optical instruments that project the depths of the mind into the vastness of infinite space, she emphasizes the interplay between physical and psychological space by creating illusions of impossible dimensions and perspectives. Often inspired by shrines, and temples as spaces devoted to reflecting on otherworldly existences, her work often uses repetition and symbology to create this physical manifestation of infinite space. Jodoin-Eng has developed a studio practice that involves drawing, sculpture, fabrication, installation and a growing visual language of personal symbols. Select exhibitions include The Gate (Project Gallery), Wires webs veins nerves roots stems (8-11 Gallery), Trident (Little Sister Gallery), and Plaza (The Gladstone Art Hut). Her work has recently been featured by Vice, as well as CBC. Jodoin-Eng has exhibited throughout Ontario and Quebec and completed numerous commissioned installations (AGO Massive, SMASH Gardiner, The Gladstone Hotel, The Drake Hotel).
